What is a Certificate of Good Standing?
A Certificate of Good Standing is a document issued by a Notary Public which confirms that a company is legally registered in Australia. It proves that the company is validly registered and in good standing in Australia.
What does a Certificate of Good Standing include?
The Certificate of Good Standing will verify and authenticate that the company is registered and in good standing in Australia. This information will be contained in a Notarial Certificate. The Certificate of Registration and Current Company Extract of the Company issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission will be annexed to the Notarial Certificate.
The Certificate of Good Standing will evidence that the company:
- is currently registered under the Corporations Act 2001
- has the legal capacity and powers of an individual both inside and outside of Australia
- has all the statutory powers conferred by law on bodies corporate
- is not in liquidation or under any form of external administration; and
- is authorised to do anything that it is authorised to do by law in Australia and overseas.
The Certificate of Good Standing will evidence that the company:

Who issues Certificates of Good Standing?
In Australia, Certificates of Good Standing are prepared and issued by Notary Publics. Unlike other countries, there is no Australian Government entity that can issue a Certificate of Good Standing. Only Australian Notary Publics are authorised to issue Certificates of Good Standing for Australian Companies.
The Certificate of Good Standing will be prepared and issued by our Australian Notary Public, who is appointed by the Supreme Court as a Public Notary for life, using their official Notary seal. An impression of the Notary's official seal will be impressed on all pages of the Certificate of Good Standing including the Certificate of Registration and Company Extract for the purposes of authentication.
